Birdy, an awkward amateur scientist from the Hong Kong diaspora, sets a fragile experiment into motion that pulls her into a dimension both uncanny and intimately familiar. Moving through this inner landscape, she is confronted by the grief she has long kept buried.

Created in collaboration with independent designers Cristina Lin (Royal College of Arts) and Hana Lee (Central Saint Martins).

When the Wind Blows – An Expanded Cinema Experience was held on 19 September 2025 at the iconic techno club Electrowerkz, welcoming 200+ guests to an evening that reimagined the boundaries of sound, cinema, and performance. The event took the film off-screen, transforming it into a night of rave culture and immersive audiovisual experience.

The night featured sets by:

  • Hero Shimoji 

Our headliner, Debba is a rising name in the UK bass scene, fresh from appearances at Boomtown, BBC Radio 1, and Boiler Room, bringing an extra dimension to this unique fusion of film and sound. Debba performed the film’s original soundtrack live  (for which he composed) during his headline set, extending the world of the film into a full-blown rave experience.
